DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING

The Diagnostic Imaging Department was established in January 2016. It is comprised of the following divisions: Digital X-Ray unit, CT-scanner and Bone Densitometry (DEXA test). This department is equipped with state-of-the-art Ct-Scanner (Toshiba Aquilion Lightning) which reduces radiation exposure to the patient up to 75%- 80% allows to perform examinations in the fastest and safest way.

CT-scan examination of the head, orbits, paranasal sinuses, neck, thorax, abdominal and pelvic cavity are performed. When needed CT-scan examination performs with i/v contrast injection, which is exceptional in Armenia. CT angiography is also performed with a modern approach.

The second unit was a Digital X-Ray unit (Toshiba Raffine) with a rotating arm that provides patients with complex, precise and comprehensive examinations without inconveniencing the patient to move in different positions

The staff of this department is trained, experienced and friendly, who closely cooperate with the entire medical staff of the Center. When needed they discuss every detail of each patient in order to get an accurate and precise diagnosis.

Bone Densitometry (DEXA test).

However, the first Diagnostic Imaging unit for Osteoporosis Screening (DEXA Unit from Hologic Corp) was installed in December 2006 with the efforts of Rita Balian being the first to introduce it in Armenia. Additionally, Discovery Upgrade System was added on the DEXA unit to enable the screening of the entire vertebra from neck bone all the way to coccyx bone. In the same year, FRAX program was also added to the system to help to prevent bone fractures in terms of identifying and assessing a 10-year risk of major osteoporosis-related fractures.

It’s always easier to prevent than to treat. Every woman, during and after menopause, should have a bone densitometry test to avoid fractures and bone pain.  Since 2006 to date, the Bone Densitometry & Osteoporosis Screening Program screens 9,812 patients at the Wellness Center.
