A Cytology laboratory was established in June 2001 for the study of cytology tests and early diagnosis of cervical, breast, thyroid gland and other organs pre-cancer and cancer.

A test that can detect potentially precancerous and cancerous processes in the cervix is called a Pap test. Due to Pap test, the Center's specialists saved the lives of many women.
The center performs a fine-needle aspiration (FNA) of the thyroid gland and breast when radiological and clinical data are not sufficient for diagnosis. Under the ultrasound control, a sample is taken from suspicious mass and then viewed under a microscope. The results of FNA help to arrange the proper treatment.
To enhance accurate and cost-effective Pap smear readings, the head of cytology laboratory and two doctors from the Center received additional training in cytology at the University of Southern California, under the guidance of Dr. Camilla Cobb and Katherine Berberian of the University of Southern California’s (USC). They also received training in fine-needle aspiration (FNA) procedures for breast cancer biopsies. All tree specialists also received additional training in cytology at the University of Vienna.
The Cytology laboratory provides training to physicians-cytologists from different regions of Armenia.
Since May 2013, Outpatient Ambulatory Surgery has been operating at the Wellness Center which has pushed forward the significance of restarting-up a histology laboratory to view the suspicious tissues removed through core needle biopsies and surgeries.
